Email updates privacy

This is an optional mailing list, separate from Atlas account authentication. Creating an Atlas account never subscribes you, and you do not need an account to receive updates. We do not link this list to account identifiers or fishing history.

We store your trimmed, lowercased email address, subscription status, signup and change times, consent copy version, and hashed confirmation/unsubscribe tokens with a confirmation expiry. We also store a confirmation-attempt count and window start to limit unwanted mail, plus anonymous attempt timestamps for a site-wide limit. These record send attempts, not opens or clicks. We do not remove plus tags or periods.

We do not store IP addresses, user agents, location, referrers, UTM parameters, browsing history, or behavioral profiles in the subscriber database. There are no advertising or analytics tools in this signup.

Cloudflare hosts this site and the subscriber database. It necessarily processes connection metadata, such as your IP address, to handle requests and protect its infrastructure. That is separate from what we deliberately store in the subscriber database.

Only after a valid signup that needs a confirmation does our server contact Microsoft identity (login.microsoftonline.com) for authentication and Microsoft Graph (graph.microsoft.com) for delivery. Your browser does not contact Microsoft for this signup. Microsoft processes the recipient address and message, including its confirmation and unsubscribe links, and may retain mail and delivery records under the mailbox administrator's policies. Your email provider also processes the delivered message.

Confirmation links expire after 48 hours. Opening a link does not subscribe you: choose Confirm email on the page. Until then, no development or launch updates are sent. For a missing or expired link, request a new confirmation. Requests within one hour do not send another email. Pending addresses can receive up to three attempts in a 24-hour period, subject to a site-wide limit. New confirmation links replace old ones; previous unsubscribe links remain usable until you intentionally subscribe again. Already-active addresses receive no further confirmation mail.

Use the unsubscribe link in your email to stop updates. We retain the address as a suppression record. An ordinary repeat signup does not undo this; subscribing again requires an intentional request and a fresh confirmation.

We keep subscription records while operating this list, including suppression records to honor opt-outs. For deletion or correction, contact [email protected]. Deleting a suppression record also removes our ability to recognize a later signup as previously unsubscribed.
